How long will it take to complete the main story in the eagerly awaited Final Fantasy 16? finds out from the game’s director.
The development team behind the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 discloses how long it will take to complete the game’s main story, taking into account any additional content. As the release date approaches, the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, also known by the moniker Yoshi-P, has been discussing the eagerly anticipated title. Final Fantasy 16’s combat, the demo, and now the typical length of one playthrough for most players have all been clarified by Yoshida.
The upcoming installment of the enduringly popular RPG series, along with other releases like Capcom’s Street Fighter 6, is one of the most eagerly awaited ones this June. It will include a number of reimagined elements from the franchise’s past, including the elemental Crystals and Eikon summons, but this game’s storytelling will be darker and more mature. Director Hiroshi Takai and producer Yoshida discuss the amount of content players will have to deal with as well as the typical length of one playthrough in a recent interview with Famitsu.
Final Fantasy 16 Demo Details Confirmed By Square Enix
Takai responded to a question from Famitsu about how long it should take to complete Final Fantasy 16 by saying that it should take about 35 hours. He points out that players’ playtime may double if they take detours and explore the side content. According to Yoshida, it will take between 70 and 80 hours to see the game completely finished, including all cutscenes, upgrades, and other features. Before it got longer during development, the main story’s expected runtime was originally 20 hours or so.
Yoshida claims that the length of the cutscenes in Final Fantasy 16’s main story alone will be 11 hours. The length of these cutscenes may be longer than expected because this figure excludes any cutscenes that a player might see while participating in a side activity. Players can anticipate spending at least 30% of their journey, or between 35 hours of total playtime, and 11 hours of cutscenes, watching the story develop.
The amount seems to be about average compared to other mainline Final Fantasy games that have been released in the past. Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 15, or Final Fantasy 7: Remake’s main story can be completed in 30 to 40 hours, according to the howlongtobeat.com website, while completionist playthroughs can take up to 80 to 100 hours. The length of Final Fantasy 16’s playthrough appears to be following the same pattern.
Final Fantasy 16 will launch on June 22, exclusively for PS5.
