Dead Island 2: New Horizons Await as the Game Expands to Another Platform.

Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors announced during the company’s quarterly earnings call that the highly acclaimed Dead Island 2 is set to make a bold leap to “another platform” within the next year. This information was released shortly after the game’s successful launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC through Epic Games Store. Dead Island 2 has overcome obstacles and attracted audiences from all over the world.

Dead Island 2 embarked on rollercoaster production journey characterized by delays and shifts in its development team. However, perseverance paid off, and in April of this year, the game was finally unleashed for the enjoyment of gamers on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC through the Epic Games Store. The release exceeded all expectations, achieving remarkable sales figures of one million copies in a mere three days and two million within its inaugural month, as proudly shared by Embracer.

Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors shared his thoughts on the game’s future during the earnings call. He acknowledged the initial strong release window of Dead Island 2, followed by the performance in line with expectations.

According to Embracer, Dead Island 2 outperformed expectations at launch selling one million copies in just three days and two million in its first month.

Wingefors stated today, “I think Dead Island had a really strong release window, then we have been seeing more normal performance.”

“What we now anticipate is promotions, but primarily the addition of new content, as there will be a sizable amount of content released for the game this year, which will increase base game sales as well. Then, a release on another platform would be planned for the following year which would also result in numerous sales.

Even though the identity of the new platform is a subject of much conjecture, few specifics about it were made public during Wingefors’ announcement. One possibility is that the game will be released on Steam for PC gamers. This could introduce the game to a new audience and give it’s player base new life. Another exciting prospect is the potential launch of Dead Island 2 on a Nintendo system, perhaps the anticipated successor to the Switch, set to debut in the latter half of 2024.

Fans have even more cause to celebrate with the anticipation of Dead Island 2’s release on a new platform. The game’s creators have been working arduously on developing immersive story additions that should enhance the gameplay. The first expansion, titled “Haus,” is slated for a fourth-quarter release in 2023, while the second expansion, “SOLA Festival,” is poised to captivate audiences in the second quarter of 2024. These expansions are bundled together in the game’s enticing Expansion Pass, available for $29.99 / £24.99.
