Cyberpunk 2077’s paid expansion, Phantom Liberty, and a major 2.0 base game overhaul are both on the way.

Phantom Liberty was coming on September 26th, but developer CD Projekt has now confirmed its free 2.0 update will arrive five days earlier, on September 21st.

Cyberpunk 2.0 aims to address some of the game’s criticism since its controversial release at the tail end of 2020, promising entirely fresh skill trees and perks, revamped cyberware, a new capacity system, vehicle combat, and car chases, battle AI advancements, and a new police structure. It also includes changes to loot, items, and crafting, as well as UI and UX improvements and a new radio station lineup.

Cyberpunk’s 2.0 update has a significant impact on a wide range of core systems, and CD Projekt has been attempting to explain how these changes will impact the experience through a recent series of creator streams.

The evening broadcast got some time to highlight 2.0’s revamped skill trees and perks, showcasing a number of builds that will be possible following the update, including the slo-mo, air-dashing Bullet-time Ninja, the quick-hack-queuing, over-clocking Hack-&-Slash Netrunner, and the close-quarters, ground-pounding Savage Slugger Solo.

The Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, which adds a new storyline, a new district, new quests, new gigs, new boss fights, vehicle missions, an increased level cap to 60, and a new Relic skill tree, also got a look in, albeit mostly through a conversation with Idris Elba, who plays new character Solomon Reed. Elba is also the focus of CD Projekt’s new Phantom Liberty cinematic trailer.

The only thing CD Projekt had to say about itself this time was that the music from Cyberpunk 2077 has now been made available on streaming services. however, are these: Phantom Liberty will launch on September 26. The major 2.0 update will hit Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC five days earlier, on September 21.
