It’s never easy going into the warehouse of an NFL team bowing out of a similar loss because of the postgame media availability with players going through frustration, among many different feelings. It was negative on another Sunday in the Bay Section when the Dallas Cowboys suffered their fourth straight loss to the San Francisco 49ers, this year a 30-24 loss.
In fact, feelings were flowing before the media entered the Cowboys warehouse when Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs emerged early to directly confront WFAA’s Mike Leslie, sports anchor and reporter for ABC’s local partner in Dallas . Leslie tweeted please watch the whole sport when 49ers tight end George Kittle ripped off a 43-yard catch-and-run: “What is Trevon Diggs doing on this play?”
Leslie demonstrated in a reply below the post that she was criticizing Diggs’ hustle at the end of games while Kittle rumbled ill in the 10. Diggs, still in his uniform (shoulder pads and all), should have noticed the post on his phone right after the game because he left the warehouse and headed towards Leslie, who was full of collaborators from other media.
“From that whole play, that’s what you learned? You don’t know football,” Diggs mentioned to Leslie. “You can’t do anything I do. You can’t go out and do nothing. Stay in your lane, buddy. Stop playing with me, bro.”
The reporter attempted to respond and continue the dialogue with Diggs as he left the area.
“I’m just asking a question, Trevon,” Leslie mentioned. “I’m glad you answered the question.”
Diggs returned and repeated some of his earlier comments before returning to the warehouse.
“From all that work, that’s what you got?” he asked rhetorically before cursing the journalist.
Leslie endured Diggs’ question.
“We can talk more about that,” he mentioned as Diggs walked back towards the storage room. Diggs was not.
“We can talk about crazy things,” the cornerback mentioned.
Therefore, Leslie addressed the incident on social media.
“Trevon just came out of the locker room to tell me about this tweet,” Leslie wrote. “He said I don’t know football and I can’t do what he does. He and I agree on that. However, he didn’t give any answer about what he was doing in the game.”
He also added this:
Once the media contributors were allowed into the warehouse, Diggs was still hot and we ultimately decided not to talk to the sleuths.
Falling to 3-4 on the date with a fourth straight loss to San Francisco certainly makes the feeling working better on the Cowboys’ side. They will hope to get back to .500 when they head to Atlanta to face the NFC South-leading Falcons (5-3) in Season 9.
