Xavier Significance’s NFL career is off to an interesting start. The Kansas Town Chiefs rookie wide receiver recently revealed that the Indianapolis Colts hung up on him on draft night before Kansas Town went with him with the 28th overall pick.

Significance said he earned a pick from the Colts in the middle of the first round. However, the decision did not last long.

“The Colts hung it in my face. It was a little crazy,” Significance said on the “Rich Eisen Show.” “The Colts called my phone on draft day and hung up the phone. They said, ‘Hey, this is how it is with the Colts.’ And then they stopped talking and hung up.”

It used to matter if you were sure you were on the hook or if there was a possibility of a disconnection.

“I’m sure,” Significance replied.

The Colts ultimately settled on crossover running back Laiatu Latu with the 15th overall pick. They then decided on Significance’s high school teammate Adonai Mitchell in the second round with the 52nd overall pick.

Later in his regular meeting with the Colts, Significance said things were quiet until the Chiefs called to tell him he was about to join the two-time defending Super Bowl champions. To begin with, it’s important to assume that expenses were calling, but Buffalo had switched the pick to Kansas Town just moments earlier.

It’s fair to say that Significance is proud of the way things played out on draft night. Week the Colts are facing an insecure quarterback conditionImportance is blossoming on a 7-0 Chiefs team heading into Monday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Exactly where I want to be,” Significance said of the Chiefs, who are three wins away from joining the 1990 49ers as the only two-time defending champions to start 10-0.
