CD Projekt Red has revealed which new features in Cyberpunk 2077 will be available to all players and which are related to the game‘s forthcoming expansion.

According to the company, the $30 / £25 Phantom Liberty addition, which will be released on September 26th, will completely revamp the way Cyberpunk 2077 is played.

In a June interview, creative director Pawel Sasko and quest designer Despoina Anetaki stated that “all of the core main systems” of the game had been “redone or updated significantly.”

Yulia Pryimak, the game’s designer, revealed some of the new features, including vehicle combat, during Gamescom Opening Night Live this past month.

Additionally, it was revealed that Update 2.0, which will be available for current-gen consoles and PCs, will include some of the new features from Phantom Liberty and bring them to the main game.

Last week, CD Projekt stated that the decision to just release a single expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 was a technological one due to the company’s shift to Unreal Engine development.

Along with the announcement that it was working on the next mainline Witcher game, the business revealed in March 2022 that it had engaged in a 15-year agreement with Epic, in which the two will collaborate on Unreal Engine initiatives such as engine and game development.

The previous Witcher games and Cyberpunk 2077 were powered by CD Projekt’s proprietary RED engine.
