He added: “I cannot comment on whether there will be discussions about the position. It would be wrong for me to say anything that is not truthful.

“As far as I’m concerned, there are conferences on basic topics, personnel, players, effects. With optimism we can advance the sport of that time and obtain a perfect result.”

Cardiff goalkeeper Jack Alnwick has already said the Bluebirds players are “totally behind” Riza and want him to get the job permanently.

Owner Vincent Tan will make the final decision on whether to formally extend Riza’s tenure.

So far, Cardiff have been happy that Riza continues to see an improvement in his results. He is currently undefeated in five games.

Riza has made no secret of the fact that she would like to take the position long-term.

But he subsequently consistently refused to add to speculation over his future, although he confirmed that communication with Cardiff senior figures had been good since he was appointed interim manager.

He said: “Verbal exchange is vital for any elite status. Those conversations have been gaining ground since the short time I have been in the main team. Everything has been splendid in that respect.”

And he added: “The consultation will be requested and ultimately will have to be resolved, but it is not my place to explain too much what or when it will be.”
