Capcom insists it is making “good progress” despite falling sales in the first half

0

Capcom has waived its financial effects for the first half of the 2024/25 financial year, announcing that it has made “good progress” toward its full-year goal.

In addition to the release of new titles, the Japanese game creator and publisher said that “catalog unit sales grew year-on-year” and that both its arcade operations and peace apparatus services “contributed to profits.”

Due to the reduced timing of new titles, including a new Monster Hunter game, Capcom says the effects are “weighted” to the second half of the year.

the numbers

For the six-month period ending September 30, 2024, in one hundred million yen, Capcom analyzes:

  • Gross online sales: ¥564, weakened 25% year-on-year
  • Source of labor income: ¥207, weakened 39% year-on-year
  • Internet revenue source: 152 yen, down 40% year-over-year

The company showed that it had exempted six new titles throughout the duration, including Dead Emerging Deluxe Remaster and the famous “healthy development of catalog titles” of its Monster Hunter logo, whose unreleased title is scheduled to begin on February 28, 2025 .

As a result, Capcom is rejecting its full-year forecast and is aiming for 12 consecutive years of expansion “driven by continued growth in the digital content business.”

Interestingly, Capcom reports that 54% of its sales come from games sold for PC (up 6% year-over-year), while console sales remain stable at 40%.

Overall unit sales fell 11.4% year-on-year to 20.05 million, with overseas sales continuing to dominate at nearly 85% of all sales. Sales within Japan fell slightly year-on-year to 15%.

93.7% of all gross unit sales during this semester have been virtual.

Capcom also highlighted many of its major franchises and offered an update on the lifetime sales of each and every one of them:

  • Resident Sinful: 163 million devices
  • Monster Hunter: 105 million devices
  • Side Road Fighter: 55 million devices
  • Mega Guy: 42 million devices
  • Satan could scream: 32 million devices
  • Useless pop-ups: 17 million devices
  • Dragon’s Dogma: 12 million devices
  • Ace Legal Lawyer: 12 million devices
  • Surprise vs. Capcom: 11 million devices
  • Onimusha: 8.7 million devices
