While hype for The Witcher 4 is through the roof right now after it got a cool new trailer at The game Awards last week, chances are we’ll still have to wait a while before we can all take up the path like Ciri.
However, if you’re hankering to get a taste of RPGs like the grown-up, monster-slaying version of everyone’s favorite eldest blood son right now, Witcher 3 modders are on the case, and one of them just won a Approved by the director of Witcher 4 himself, Sebastian Kalemba.

Inspired by the first look at Ciri’s new life offered by the game Awards trailer, modder Forlornsito decided to create ‘The Witcher 4 Concept Ciri – Toxic Mutant’. Basically, your goal is to make Ciri from Witcher 3 look exactly like she does in the TW4 trailer, changing her equipment and appearance.
“I wanted to create something that looked like this new mutated adult witch that Ciri uses in the game and basic assets…” wrote the modder, “The blue eyes were taken directly from the trailer, I enhanced them and fixed the textures again in Photoshop “I know there are some differences between the outfits, but overall I think I came up with a very similar outfit.”
They also add that you may notice a slight visual glitch with Ciri’s chainmail and hood, and as mods like this become used, especially when they’ve just been released, that sort of thing is generally to be expected. Witcher 4 director Kalemba certainly doesn’t seem to care, as he shared the mod in a tweet and declared: “No way, the community delivers as usual!”

If you’re using a basic copy of The Witcher 3, you should be able to play as this new look of Ciri in the usual main story missions where you step into her shoes, and of course she’ll rock all Witcher too. 4 when you find her in the world and scenes as Geralt.
That said, assuming they are compatible, using a mod like ‘Better Call Ciri should let you get a little taste of roaming the continent freely in her Witcher 4 protagonist form. You obviously won’t have access to the new abilities or everything else that will come with it. its proper setup in the new game, but it’s cool anyway.
Also, another modder named Apzurv went ahead and recreated Ciri’s sword from the trailer in TW3, so that’s something else you can maybe try adding to your Witcher modding prep.
Among the many things being said about The Witcher 4 following the trailer, CD Projekt has confirmed that Ciri has a new voice in the game, provided by Ciara Berkeley instead of TW3 actress Jo Wyatt.
