Can a healthy Hollywood Brown have an impact in 2025?

Kansas City, Mo. – The Hollywood Brown open receiver never considered moving forward after his brief season with the Kansas City bosses. Brown simply has too much pending issues.

“I knew all the time I wanted to return,” said Brown, who signed again with the Chiefs before the free agency began with his second one year contract. “They expressed their opinions, loving me back … I know I had a great beginning for my camp. [before] hurt hurt. We all wanted to see to join. I’m glad we have done it.

“They know that the type of boy I am, the type of work I put and essentially that is one of the reasons why they brought me is because some games I played, I could open the things a lot for the offensive.”

The Chiefs acquired Brown last year along with the rookie Xavier Worthy hoping that the two rapid receivers can bring the great game back to the air game. The two had to join Rashee Rice to give the Chiefs what they thought would be their deepest group of containers in years.

The three were never in the field at the same time. Brown suffered a sternoclavicular lesion in the first pre -season play and when he returned at the end of the regular season, Rice came out during the year with a knee injury.

Brown played in just two regular seasonal games, catching nine passes for 91 yards. He also played in the three postseason games of the Chiefs, obtaining five receptions for 50 yards.

The Chiefs still saw Brown enough to make their firm a priority before they could get on the free agents market.

“What impressed me so much about Hollywood is that everyone told me that it was a fast guy, but not everyone told me how much can do in the football field and you could see,” said Field Marshal Patrick Mahomes. “You can run those routes on the medium. You can run really good routes and you can run deeply. It’s not like Fast is the only thing you can do.”

Rice led the league trapped with 24 when he was injured in week 4. Digny had a promising rookie season with 59 caught and 638 yards. He also scored nine touchdowns.

The Chiefs returned to signed Brown to give another attempt to the group of three receivers this year.

“The sky is the limit,” Brown said. “We talked all the time about history … Our history as a group, our history as individual players and that is what we are talking about and that is what we strive during the low season, through our training. We are trying to push ourselves to being the best. Ultimately, I feel that we could do something that has never been done before.”

That might depend on Brown to contribute how the Chiefs imagine it will. Rice, the best open receiver of the Chiefs in 2023, and worthy, its broad resource in 2024, is established in Kansas City.

Brown is the one that is not tested, at least in one of its uniforms. But the Chiefs did not understand any secret before Brown signed again that they wanted him back.

“Every time Hollywood catches the ball, it’s just an explosion of energy,” Travis Kelce closed wing. “We miss that guy a lot [during his injury]. I was looking at him in practice when he first returned. I was like, ‘that’s all. That is the boy. We miss that guy.

“It is one of those guys that you could feel your presence when you are in the field with it.”

Brown, 27, has not played a full NFL season due to injuries since 2021, when he was with the Baltimore Ravens. That season, had career maximums with 91 trapped and 1,008 yards.

You may not get those numbers for chiefs, even if you play for a full season. The Chiefs will also take the ball to Rice, Digno, Kelce and others.

But Brown suggested that personal statistics were not the most important consideration to sign again.

“I think only the environment,” Brown said. “The atmosphere every day that came to work felt for the first time in my career that was coming to where I wanted to be every day, come to work, improve and improve. So I knew it was a place and an environment where I wanted to stay.”
