Bucs receiver Mike Evans is a game-time pick against Ravens

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans will be an option for Monday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, teacher Todd Bowles said Saturday.

Evans skipped practice Thursday and Friday because of a hamstring shock, but was prepared to do “some things” during Saturday’s practice, Bowles said.

“He did some things today that were encouraging,” Bowles said. “We’ll see how the next couple of days go and see how he feels…He’s questionable right now.”

Bowles added that Evans’ concussion has been “upsetting” and is no longer one he has suffered unexpectedly. Evans modified the upset during the final hour game against the Pristine Orleans Saints, Bowles said. Evans has lost just nine games in 10 seasons, eight of them by upset or default.

Evans, who became the franchise’s all-time scorer this season, is tied for the league lead with five receiving touchdowns, along with teammate Chris Godwin, Allen Lazard, Ja’Marr Chase and George Kittle.

Bowles mentioned that key center and 2024 first-round draft pick Graham Barton improved a lot this time to play games on Monday night despite being restricted on Thursday and Friday. Barton sat out the late game against the Saints with a hamstring injury.

Professor also said that second-year wide receiver Trey Palmer, who missed the next two games with a concussion, “will be fine” by Monday night and then will fully participate in Friday’s practice without problems.

Pitching cornerback Jamel Dean, who suffered a hamstring injury against the Saints, will be out. Rookie cornerback Tyrek Funderburk is expected to step in as he did last hour, along with second-year cornerback Josh Hayes.

“I thought he did some things to get out the first time because he missed the preseason as well,” Bowles said of Funderburk. “With one game under his belt, he’ll be a little calmer, a little more confident; between him and Hayes, they’ll both get some time. We look forward to seeing them play.”

Big receiver Kameron Johnson (ankle) and tight end Payne Durham (calf) will be out.
