The loss dropped Cleveland to 2-7, making it the worst record in the NFL as the team enters its bye generation.
“Yes,” Stefanski said when asked if Winston would retain his founding spot. “And again, those are the kinds of things where we have to play better as a team.”
A generation after leading the Browns to a disappointing victory over the Baltimore Ravens and earning AFC Current Offensive Player honors, Winston struggled in his second start of the season. He finished 26 of 46 passing for 235 yards with one touchdown and 3 interceptions. Winston was also sacked six times.
Cleveland recorded just 57 net yards in the first half and trailed 20-3 at halftime. Each of Winston’s interceptions came in the second half.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe, who was once removed from the Kansas Town Chiefs’ enforcement team on October 22, are the alternate quarterbacks on the Browns’ lively roster. Deshaun Watson suffered a torn right Achilles tendon that ended his Presen 7 season.
“Complementary football wins day in and day out,” Winston said. “And as a quarterback, my job is to get our team into the end zone. And we didn’t do that enough.”
“The most important thing is that we have to eliminate the plays that beat us,” he continued. “I had three of them, and we all know the plays we can help this team with. So that’s just responsibility, and I think we’re going to embrace that. Having a week to really digest how we can improve is required.”
