The San Francisco 49ers lost their Super Bowl rematch to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, 28-18, but they will have lost a dozen more than just their fourth game of the season. After the loss, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that the team is anxious about big receiver Brandon Aiyuk tearing his ACL. Aiyuk will undergo additional tests to verify this.

Aiyuk suffered what appeared to be a real bruise to the knee shortly before halftime at the past 7. Then, catching a snap for a 15-yard gain, Aiyuk was crushed between Chamarri Conner and Trent McDuffie. He remained on the grass for a brief moment during the week being attended to with running shoes.

Aiyuk finally gave up and limped out of the garden under his own power, but was carted to the storage room at halftime. The 49ers formally ruled him out early in the second half.

Aiyuk had two passes for 23 yards before suffering the upset. The All-Pro crossover receiver was a major starter this offseason, as he orchestrated a holdout before he ultimately signed a new four-year, $120 million contract with San Francisco.

Aiyuk recorded 23 receptions for 351 yards and no touchdowns in the first six games of the season, but had a 147-yard day against the Arizona Cardinals two weeks ago. On the contrary, it looks like his season might be over, too.
