Alternative App Store Aptoid has completely launched its service in iOS in the European Union.
As part of its launch, an application versions function has been introduced that allows users to install previous application versions. Previously, this was only supportable in Android.
Aptoid opened for the first time with a beta version in June 2024, which saw a waiting list of 20,000 users. As reported above, Aptoid has an alternative payment system in the iOS application, and offers an IAP software development kit in collaboration with Apple.
“This complete launch marks an important milestone in the distribution of the game for the commitment of iOS and Aptoid with an open distribution ecosystem and without restrictions,” said the CEO of Aptoid Paulo Trezentos.
“Apple users now have access to new freedoms, but there is still no great job to continue opening iOS worldwide and reduce friction for users and game developers.”
Shortly after Aptoid’s beta launch last year, Epic Games launched his mobile store that takes Fortnite and Fall Guys to iOS in the EU and Android worldwide.
Both companies were able to launch these independent application stores after the implementation of the Digital Markets Law last year, which requires Apple to allow third -party application stores on their platform.
