If any time to leave things has passed in the minimalist islanders of the city of 2019, there is a fair possibility that you have gained enough for a sequel to be potentially quite exciting. So prepare: the Coatsink editor has announced to the islanders: new coasts, and will come to PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC this “summer.”
The original islanders, to recapitulate, was a game about the strategically retouching of as many amenities as possible in a small (visually pleasant) of the island generated at random, all when trying to maximize its score taking full advantage of the multipliers of adjacence of each comfort. That probably does not sound very exciting, but its cold vibrations and its relaxed action made an unexpectedly hypnotic experience, a space management game as convincing as the relaxing.
What leads us to the islanders: new coasts, a gently expanded monitoring that promises the opportunity to “explore, build and strategies as never before.” This time, Coatsink, who acquired the franchise of the original Grizzly Games developer in 2022, has been associated with Steamworld Build Studio The Station, and is promoting a variety of new features for its sequel.
To begin with, New Shores presents “Boons”, unique unlocked potentiators as players accumulate points, used to obtain an advantage in more difficult stages, plus two different game modes in the form of a high score and Sandbox, each with their own salvages. In another place, there are 44 types of unique buildings and seven properties of the island, as well as a photographic mode with its own filters and a rotating camera. You can try the action of the new coasts on the trailer above.
There is still no release date for the islanders: new coasts, but it is arriving in Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch this “summer.” And if it is as good as its predecessor, it should be worth watching. Christian Donlan described the original islanders as a “reflexive turn strategy” and a “classic” in their criticism recommended in 2021.
