Former Morocco and Marseille midfielder Abdelaziz Barrada has died aged 35.
The reason for his death has not yet been revealed, but media in Morocco claim that he suffered an intermediate attack.
Barrada retired from football in 2021 having made 26 international appearances for his country, scoring four goals, including his last in 2015.
The Moroccan Football Federation paid tribute on social media, calling his death “a great loss.”
“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the former Moroccan international, the deceased Abdelaziz Barrada, and through them to all his relatives and friends, as well as to the national football family,” he stated.
Barrada also played 64 times for Spanish club Getafe between 2011-2013, and scored two goals for Marseille during his two seasons there between 2014-2016.
“The club wishes to express its deepest condolences to his family and share the pain of his loved ones,” Marseille posted on social media.
After his necromancy at the Ligue 1 club, Barrada played for Al-Nasr in the United Arab Emirates, for Turkish side Antalyaspor and finally for Lusitanos Saint-Maur in France, although he did not play a game before leaving three years ago. years. in the past.
