2024 NFL trade deadline: Five WR goals for next Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes and KC strengthen to 6-0 against 49ers

The Kansas Town Chiefs, who beat the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, are the last undefeated group of the 2024 NFL season, right atop the AFC West at 6-0. So the reigning Super Bowl champions don’t need any support, right? Well, in all likelihood. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid have shown us time and time again that they will raise the weapons at their disposal when necessary, so overall, this group is legit.

But who says you won’t be able to reinforce the sickness funds? Who says you need more for your laurels, especially when you’re about to achieve a third Lombardi Trophy record? With key veterans like Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown banged up along with reserves like JuJu Smith-Schuster, here are five wide receivers the Chiefs could target ahead of the league’s Nov. 5 in-season trade deadline:

Teams typically don’t sign a veteran starter and after signing him the same season, but the Carolina Panthers don’t have Johnson sworn in after 2024, and at age 28, with no sunny quarterback plan in the park, is a questionable. In the long term they are compatible. However, the former Pittsburgh Steelers standout still has plenty of talent on the field and would supposedly produce for a mid-season turnkey apartment in Kansas Town.

The Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t going to want to lose anyone in their era of talent weapons trying to salvage a boom-or-bust year for Trevor Lawrence and Doug Pederson, but Kirk has apparently seen inconsistent usage over the next two years punting 1,100 yards as zenith target. . His track record at the position suggests he would be an ideal all-purpose option for Reid’s offense, giving Kansas Town a safer catch-and-run ultimatum.

Hopkins sounds like he has slight need to let the Tennessee Titans godespite the group’s rocky starts and murky quarterback status. That doesn’t mean he or the Titans can’t settle for splitting tactics. A reported target of the Chiefs before signing with Tennessee in 2023, the former Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals star is aging and worn down, but can still do business in high-level route running in a supporting role.

Thielen, 34, sidelined for the Panthers’ last four games with a hamstring injury, could very well be on his last legs, which doesn’t necessarily scream “improvement” for the Chiefs’ wave setup. Still, when healthy, the former Minnesota Vikings fan favorite remains a top high-volume ownership target. His craftiness can be a significant asset to Reid’s lineup, and he would probably appreciate the chance to contend.

The sixth-year veteran has occasionally given the appearance of a true Deny. 1, however, the Untouched York Giants’ offense is stuck in the dust, with Daniel Jones flailing at the end of a contentious series. But still, Malik Nabers is in tow as the vital face of the receiving corps. A pending isolation agent, Slayton’s ability to stretch the field would certainly be welcome in Kansas Town, where he would also have the best chance of his career to make the playoffs.
