Buttler will fix Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell and Maheesh Theekshana, who were retained by Gladiators. Meanwhile, Matheesha Pathirana, Theekshana’s Sri Lanka teammate, was at Fresh York Strikers.

The forwards, the defending champions, have retained their core of Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein and Mohammad Amir. The UAE pair of Muhammad Waseem and Muhammad Jawadullah, who also played for Sharjah Warriors in the ILT20, were also retained by the T10 franchise.

The Abu Dhabi T10 is the third franchise event that Karthik has signed up for, later the Legends League 2024 and the SA20 2025, following his exit from world and Indian cricket. The 39-year-old had also been named Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s batting mentor and schoolmaster for IPL 2025.

Shakib Al Hasan, who had just finished his T20I career, will set up Karthik and Ireland’s left-arm pacer Josh Modest for Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10.

Trent Boult will reunite with Finn Allen in the future for Northern Warriors. Lockie Ferguson was in the Abu Dhabi Group, who also signed Jonny Bairstow and Shimron Hetmyer.

The Abu Dhabi T10 will expand to a ten-team league this season, with Bolts Ajman and UP Nawabs the new entrants.

“We are excited to deliver another world-class line-up at the Abu Dhabi T10 2024, which has flourished since we brought the competition to the capital of the United Arab Emirates,” said Matt Boucher, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Activity Hub, in a statement: “Abu Dhabi is now a global recreation hub, and the Abu Dhabi T10, approaching its sixth iteration in the emirate, has played an important role in realizing that government vision.”

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Adil Rashid were among the Nawabs’ new signings, while Bolts recruited Jimmy Neesham and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

The Abu Dhabi T10 2024 will take place from November 21 to December 2, avoiding an overlap with the Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, ILT20 and the New Zealand Super Smash tournament.
