Year 7 overreactions for the 2024 NFL season: Deshaun Watson’s ultimate matchup with the Browns? Is Josh Allen the easiest QB today?

This while the NFL offered some mysteries, as the initial Year 7 roster lived up to expectations. The Detroit Lions overcame the Minnesota Vikings their first foul of the season with a yard game on the last soft date that the Green Bay Packers also won with a yard game over the Houston Texans.

On the day the NFC North showed its strength, the Kansas Town Chiefs became the overall undefeated team with their victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The Washington Commanders also maintained control of the NFC East with their blowout victory over the Carolina Panthers.

This is the first time this season where four or more teams came back to win on the next streak of at least 10 points.

With all the comeback wins and watch wins, it’s a surprising time for overreactions. Which may be overreactions and which may be facts?

Overreaction or fact: overreaction

Watson’s season appears to be over after he was carted from the outfield in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Bengals. He Browns worried about Watson rupturing Achilles tendonwhich could take almost a present to fully recover. Has this ruthless Watson made his final duel in a Browns uniform?

Watson has two years and a guaranteed difference of $92 million under his word of honor, which the Browns must pay anyway. Cleveland didn’t even bench Watson when he was acting as one of the worst quarterbacks in the league, so the Browns will try to recoup their investment (except that trauma provisions allow the Browns to get out of the business in ).

For now, Watson will most likely play another game in a Browns uniform. Perhaps this is not the end of one of the worst promises in the history of sports.

Josh Allen is the most productive QB in the NFL this season

Overreaction or fact: Made

Allen hasn’t thrown an interception in seven games this season, having landed 12 passes to date. He is the first player since Alex Smith in 2017 to throw 12 landing passes with 0 interceptions in the first seven games. Allen has just two giveaways all season, either of which could be a lost fumble.

Keep in mind that Allen no longer has Stefon Diggs as a big receiver. Amari Cooper just arrived in Buffalo (he landed his first goal on Sunday), but Allen has been just as efficient without being at odds. 1 huge receiver in all present. Allen ranks seventh in the NFL in yards per difficulty (7.8), secured fourth place in landing passes (12) and secured fourth place in passer rating (108.4). He also has 179 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the field.

Allen may not be the favorite for MVP, but he’s not going around football or hurting the fun of his date with the team at the highest level. He has been the most productive quarterback for seven weeks (Lamar Jackson plays on Mondays).

The Chiefs are 6-0 this season, with Mahomes throwing more interceptions (8) than touchdowns (6) through six games. Mahomes has the career-worst in passing yards (231.5), passing touchdowns (6), interceptions (8) and passer rating (82.5) in seven games, but his team remains the most undefeated in the league.

The Chiefs are the best, they’ve released Rashee Rice for the season and Travis Kelce is still on base to turn things around. The left spot is a disease and the outdoor supremacy crossover receiver is a rookie speedster in Xavier Fiel. Kansas Town is surely undefeated, thanks to the Chiefs’ defense being one of the easiest in football. Mahomes has had a great offensive performance (twelfth in the NFL in offensive matters by matchup with 22.3), but the performances continue to rear their ugly heads.

Kansas Town wins games despite Mahomes turning the ball over. What will happen when Mahomes recovers from performance issues? The Chiefs will still be profitable and the margin of victory will likely be greater.

Love was once a plentiful reason why the Packers beat the Texans on Sunday, proving that he is, at the very least, ahead of Stroud on the quarterback totem pole. The Packers quarterback had his ninth immediate game with 2+ passing touchdowns, achieving a season-high in final touch rate (72.7%), registering 3+ touchdowns for the third date this season.

Love has a low final touch rate (61.5%) and has thrown eight interceptions, but he is a competitive thrower and his big plays have benefited the Packers’ offense.

Stroud, on the other hand, struggled on Sunday. He finished just 10 of 21 passing for 86 yards, completing with season-lows in final touch rate (47.6%) and yards per difficulty (4.1). The Texans were the most skilled in the duel thanks to Love’s two interceptions.

Love was also five-for-five in the red zone with two touchdowns and a passer rating of 136.3. Stroud was 0 for three and a score of 39.6. None of these quarterbacks are in the top five yet, but Love could surpass Stroud if one were to rank them next Sunday.

Jones was removed from the game in the fourth quarter when the Giants were trailing the Eagles 28-3, a performance that saw him go 14 of 21 for 99 yards with no touchdowns, poor interceptions and a score of 77.3. Through seven games this season, Jones has completed 62.5% of his passes for 1,442 yards with six touchdowns, four interceptions and a rating of 80.6 (6.0 yards per fight).

The struggles at home for Jones and the Giants offense are real. Jones is the first quarterback with 0 touchdown passes in six straight home games since Trent Dilfer (1995-1996). Truth be told, Jones hasn’t made a pass landing at MetLife Stadium since signing his $160 million pledge.

The Giants are averaging just 7.8 points per game in four home games, failing to score an offensive touchdown in three of them. In fact, Jones isn’t helping this Giants offense right now, but it would be too early to give up on him at this point in the season (even with the team at 2-5). Hopefully the Giants will stick with Jones for the time being, however, he is on a borrowed date.

NFC North gets 3 playoff groups

Overreaction or fact: Made

The Lions and Vikings then face off for four quarters, followed by a watchable Packers victory over the Texans: The NFC North appears destined to take three teams to the playoffs. The Lions and Vikings each have a record of 5-1 and are in supremacy of the section, date on which the Packers sit at 5-2, half a game away from the first park.

Let’s not forget the Bears, who were at halftime, but sit at 4-2 and are out of luck today. Seventh place in the NFC playoff race. That’s four NFC North teams in the playoffs as the season nears its halfway point.

Even with the base of the section of games to shoot, the NFC North obviously has three teams with a large number of games to play in January. With the way the NFC West and NFC South are shaping up, there’s a good chance the NFC North will have three teams in response to how the early part of the season has played out.

The Patriots are the worst team in the NFL

Overreaction or fact: overreaction

The Panthers exist, which would possibly get the Patriots out of the deal. Underwhelmed England does belong in the conversation, given its sixth immediate loss in winning the season opener – its longest losing streak under Robert Kraft (Kraft bought the team in 1994).

England’s crippled defense has taken a turn south, allowing 36.5 yards per game in the last two games and allowing 5.4 yards per game. The Patriots have trouble tackling and will not prohibit the run, a bad way to win with an offense that averages just 14.1 points per game (base 5 in the NFL).

Drake Maye is the highlight of this team, taking Unused England out of the operation. Maye is the second rookie quarterback since the merger began with more than 500 passing yards and more than five passing touchdowns in his first two careers (Dan Marino is the option). Offensive problems by matchup have progressed to 18.5 in Maye’s two starts. If it weren’t for Maye’s early good luck, the Patriots would be the worst team in the league.

The Patriots could have a franchise quarterback. The Panthers, as things stand, don’t.
