The open receiver of the Kansas City bosses, Xavier Worthy, was arrested in Georgetown, Texas, Friday. While originally faced a serious third -grade assault crime against a family or member of a home that includes preventing breathing or circulation, Williamson County District has refused to press charges at this time.
Shawn Dick, the DA of Williamson County, told Austin American-Statesman that his office will not accept the case after interviews with multiple witnesses of the alleged incident.
“We will continue to evaluate the case. As our practice is with all the decreases, if it develops additional information that indicates a probable cause in this case, our office will consider that information and may present the case at that time to a large jury of Williamson County,” Dick’s office said as part of a statement to the document.
The earliest Saturday, a Chiefs spokesman said the team was “conscious and collected information” about Worthy’s arrest, according to the privileged information of the NFL of CBS Sports Jonathan Jones. The NFL also issued a statement that indicated that it was “aware of the matter” and “in contact with the club.”
If the position against Worthy had been persecuted, he could have promoted to a severe third grade crime in Texas with a maximum punishment, if he is convicted of 10 years in prison and a fine of $ 10,000.
Worthy’s lawyers, Chip Lewis and Sam Basset, issued a statement in the name of the open receiver on Saturday that Worthy would cooperate with the authorities and call accusations against “without foundation.”
“Recently the plaintiff was asked to leave Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovering his infidelity,” Worthy’s lawyers said in a statement. “She has refused to do so and made a series of exorctive efforts before resorting to this unfounded accusation against Mr. Worthy.”
Worthy has just completed her rookie season with the Chiefs after being selected with General Selection No. 28 in the NFL 2024 Draft. It became an integral part of Kansas City’s offensive as the season progressed by catching 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns.
In the Super Bowl team race, Worthy led all playoff receptors with 19 trapped, 287 yards and three touchdowns.
Before starting his NFL career, Worthy was a star in Texas, where he was a first-year student all-American and won the honors of the first All-Big 12 team twice. Worthy was an explosive game creator with the Longhorns, catching 197 passes for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns in the course of three seasons.
