Why is Chelsea storing so many young players, and can you pay it?

The accounting model makes sense, since long -standing contracts and amortization, disseminating the cost of a transfer for a prolonged period, have allowed Chelsea to obtain players like Caiceo in relatively ‘lower’ £ 180,000 wages per week, despite the cost of a British transfer record £ 115 million when Brighton joins in 2023.

The end of Ukraine, Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined Chelsea for up to £ 89 million, which includes accessories, from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023, is in ‘Solo’ £ 97,000 per week in a contract that runs up to 2031. It is an example of how players can distribute lower initial profits in a longer agreement.

But there may be problems with those longer contracts.

Mudryk is currently suspended after positive for a prohibited substance. If you are guilty, you could face a four -year prohibition, while you still have years in your Chelsea agreement.

And then what if a player wants to leave? In the superposition podcast, Jamie Carragher asked if a club could afford the star man of Chelsea, Cole Palmer.

Last year, the creator of Games renewed his contract until 2033, but Carragher said he can see the “frustration” of the 22 -year -old with some low -performance teammates.

“He reminded me of Stevie [Gerrard] Sometimes in Liverpool, because it was much better than everyone else and felt frustrated. Stevie was a local player, but he was never going to leave, while Cole Palmer is not.

“This is when I return to those eight -year -old contracts, and if they are good for the club and the players.

“If you are Palmer, who has six or seven years left in his deal, and should be playing for a team that seeks to win the Champions League, how does it go?”

This is an unknown territory and, although it makes sense in a balance, is the human aspect overlooked?

There are also young players such as Cesare Casadei, Renato Veiga and Carney Chukwueka, who left Chelsea in January in the midst of several frustrations about the lack of minutes available, with several young stars competing for the same roles.

The striker Christopher Nkunku, who made himself available to other clubs in January, and other players such as midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury -Hall, who only joined last summer, face uncertainty before the next transfer window.
