Bend Studio’s community manager thanked players following the news that their latest game had been cancelled.
Last week it was reported that Sony had canceled a live service game that Bend was working on, as well as another in development at Bluepoint Games.
Speaking on behalf of the Oregon-based developer, Bend Community Manager Kevin McAllister took to X to write a brief message of thanks to those who shared their condolences.
“I’ll be brief,” McAllister wrote. “Thank you for the love and support to everyone, especially those who have reached out.
“PS: We still plan to create cool things.”
Bend’s last release was Days Gone, which received mixed reviews when it released for PS4 in 2019, resulting in a Metacritic score of 71, but developed a cult following.
In 2021, Sony confirmed that Bend was working on a new IP, which “was based on the deep open-world systems they developed with Days Gone.”
Then, in March of last year, the studio posted a job posting for a project management position, confirming that it was working on a AAA live service game.
I’ll be brief.
Thank you all for the love and support, especially those who have reached out.
PS: We still plan to create cool things.

While it’s unclear if the game confirmed by Sony in 2021 and the live service game being recruited for 2024 are the same title, what is clear is that the latter no longer exists.
