What to know
The Clippers are 8-2 against the Spurs since November 2021 and will have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Los Angeles Clippers will host the San Antonio Spurs again on Monday, scheduled to kick off at 10:30 p.m. ET at the Intuit Dome. The Clippers may want some stickiness for this one, as the team had 20 turnovers on Saturday.
The Clippers head into this one after bookmakers set last week’s low over/under at 220.5, but even that ended up being too high. They took a 105-92 hit in the loss column at the hands of the Thunder. The loss hurts even more as Los Angeles was up 35-22 with 10:35 left in the second.
Meanwhile, winning is always good, but doing so with the highest score of the season is even better (just ask the Spurs). They walked away with a 113-103 victory over the Timberwolves on Saturday. The victory marked back-to-back wins for San Antonio.
Several players turned in solid performances to lead the Spurs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keldon Johnson, who went 10 of 17 en route to 25 points plus eight rebounds and two steals. What’s more, Johnson also racked up three 3-pointers, the most he’s had since March.
The Spurs worked as a unit and finished the game with 32 assists. They easily outscored their opponents in that department, as the Timberwolves only recorded 21.
Los Angeles’ loss was its sixth straight at home dating back to last season, dropping its record to 2-4. As for San Antonio, the victory brought them back to a 3-3 tie.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: the Clippers have been breaking glass this season, having averaged 48.3 rebounds per game. It’s not like the Spurs are struggling in that department, though, as they’ve averaged 48. With both teams struggling to corral missed shots, we’ll see if one team can take advantage.
Looking ahead, the Clippers are the favorites in this one, as experts expect to see them win by 4.5 points. Bettors picking them against the spread have some confidence (to put it mildly), as the team is on a four-game uncovered streak when playing at home.
