The Minnesota Vikings continued their active low season on Saturday night when acquiring the Jordan Mason corridor of the San Francisco 49ers.
The niners will receive a sixth round of 2026 in the exchange and exchange selections with the Vikings in this year’s draft, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN. San Francisco will receive Selection No. 160 and Minnesota will obtain selection No. 187, the sources said.
Mason also agreed terms with the Vikings in a two -year contract with $ 7 million fully guaranteed and a maximum value of $ 12 million, to Schefter, their agents, Jason and Michael Katz.
Mason, 25, gives the Vikings a young but experienced back to match the opener Aaron Jones, who last week agreed to return to the team in a two -year contract and $ 20 million. Jones established the maximum career in touches (306), carry (255) and offensive snapshots (700) last season, but the Vikings had prioritized to find the partners of the field that could share more than the load.
In the period of seven days, the Vikings have signed again or acquired 12 players in an attempt to strengthen a team that ended the regular season 2024 with a record of 14-3, but was eliminated from the playoffs in the Commodines Round. Jones and Mason will benefit from a much larger and more expensive offensive line that includes the new Ryan Kelly center and the new right guard Will Fries. Kelly and Fries signed several years offers that totaled $ 107 million.
Mason emerged last season as the leadership of the niners with the opener Christian McCaffrey due to an Achilles injury to open 2024. In his first extended period in that role, Mason was one of the best corridors in the league.
Mason accumulated 789 yards in his career in 153 attempts with three touchdowns in six openings. The season ended in the injured reserve with a high ankle sprain that cost him the last five games.
San Francisco placed a second round tender in Mason at the beginning of the week, guaranteeing $ 5.3 million in 2025 before the extension with Minnesota agreed.
Originally, a free not recruited agent outside Georgia Tech in 2022, Mason obtained a place on the list through special equipment, but averaged 6 yards per haul and 5.2 yards for attempt in limited opportunities in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
With Mason he went to Minnesota, the niners are again in the depth market of the corridor. The current depth table presents McCaffrey, Isaac Guerendo and Patrick Taylor Jr., with McCaffrey and Guerendo recovering from knee injuries.
