A day after Emma Hayes He dropped a list of 24 players for the next friendly April against BrazilAn additional U23 list has been named by a training field that runs along with the Senior International Window. Hayes has expressed his efforts to rejuvenate the US Soccer U23 program.
In January a “futures camp” was held and it was the restart of the program when a group of players eligible for age met in Florida. Multiple players who participated in the January event appeared in the 2025 Shebelieves Cup and were appointed in the recent April list for friendlies against Brazil.
Lisa Cole, Scout of the main WNT player route, will run the U23 camps, while Hayes and their staff will observe U23 training sessions throughout the week. U23 assistant trainers include the chief coach of the University of New Mexico, Heather Dyche, the assistant coach of Orlando’s pride, Yolanda Thomas, and the coach of goalkeeper Louis Hunt.
“Emma has repeatedly said that we need to put more emphasis on this age group, providing young professionals and university players more game opportunities in a national team environment and more possibilities for these best young players to play among them,” Cole said.
“With the U-23 and WNT camps that occur at the same time in the same training site, both members of the coaching staff can see both players, everyone can see how these camps are and really feel what is needed to do internationally. It is a great opportunity for players and coaches.”
Several players on the U23 list are already in their professional careers. Eva Gaetino (Paris Saint-Germain) returns to the mixture with Gisele Thompson (Angel City FC) and Savy King (Angel City FC) as part of the Defenders Group. The Reilyn Turner (Portland Thorns FC), Jameese Joseph (Chicago Stars FC) and Sarah Schupansky (Gotham FC) begin with their respective NWSL clubs.
