Twitch removed a badge that recognized esports creators in chat streams.
As made clear in a blog post from the day before, the badge is now not visible on the platform and the toggle in the developer console has been disabled.
“The increased volume of requests from organizations as a result of the chat badge, both legitimate and illegitimate, contributed to a notable delay in our reviews and an increasingly difficult-to-manage queue,” members of the Twitch Developer Family Head wrote. , Jon Bulava.
This factor belongs to the information of the Twitch developer organizations, which allows studios to create extensions to analyze the performance of games on the platform.
The verdict to remove the insignia was to “restore [its] developer organization process.”
Developers who submitted an application that included a sporting possession claim before November 1, 2024, will be able to complete their review by December 1, 2024.
Those who have submitted an application without a sports possession claim will be denied, but will be allowed to resubmit.
As for whether the badge will be reintroduced, Bulava said the detail “has challenges to overcome” before it happens.
“There are no plans to consider this functionality at this time, but it may be re-evaluated in the future given the potential to facilitate communication between developers and creators who love to play their games.”
