Trail Blazers Center Robert Williams III (knee) out of 4 to 6 weeks

Robert Williams III of the Portland Trail Blazers will be sideways for four or six weeks after undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on Thursday to address inflammation in its left knee.

The injuries have been a problem for Williams throughout his career in the seven -year NBA, and that problem has only been exacerbated during his two seasons in Portland. Since it was acquired from the Boston Celtics in October 2023, it has adapted to a total of 26 games for the Trail Blazers.

However, the 2022 All-Defensive Center is still shocking on the court. In 20 games this season, he averaged 5.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 blockages in just 17.6 minutes per game. That puts him on his way to averaging 11.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.4 blocks for 36 minutes.

Williams also leads Blazers (minimum of 20 games played) in Per (19.0), Box Plus/Minus (3.0) and win actions for 48 minutes (.174).

Portland is currently in the 12th place at the West Conference, in just two games of play sowing. The last contest of the regular season of the Blazers is scheduled for April 13. As such, if the Blazers stay below the postseason, Williams is likely to be done during the year.

Blazers have a logjam in the center with Deandre Ayton, Donovan Clingan and Williams on the list. With a remaining year in his contract, Williams could be floated as a commercial candidate this summer.
