There’s a Borderlands 4 trailer coming soon, and how do we know? Because Gearbox’s CEO said so, even though he apparently wasn’t meant to.

There’s definitely, absolutely, 100% a new Borderlands 4 trailer on the way, but technically we’re not supposed to know about it.

Look, we all make mistakes, but when you’re the CEO of a company, you’d think you’d be more cautious about making them. Then again, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has never been known to be anything other than himself, and yesterday he shared the news that a new Borderlands 4 trailer is on the way. “I’m preparing a new trailer for Borderlands 4 and it’s amazing,” Pitchford wrote on his personal Twitter account, apparently without the slightest irony. “I’m not supposed to talk about it yet, but idfaf. I’M FREAKING CRAZY, man.” Someone later asked him to leave a thumbnail, and the CEO responded with a GIF of the end of the first trailer that read, “The first few frames of the trailer are the last few frames of the trailer. Yes, I’m a troll and a joker. Accept it.” . “.

Now, as Pitchford himself points out, he wasn’t supposed to share that there will be a trailer at all! Why did he do it? Literally only he knows! But he also noted in another response that he didn’t want to “s**t the publishing and communications team,” because they’re “professionals and they know what they’re doing and my nonsense can ruin plans and deals and street.” I’m guessing he only noticed this later post, considering he simply shared the news of the impending trailer, but what are you going to do? Well, if you work at Gearbox, apparently he tells off Pitchford.

“So… my phone is blowing up,” the CEO wrote in a subsequent tweet. “I guess I shouldn’t share that we have a trailer on the way. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m not sorry.” In a follow-up tweet, he also noted that “what’s done is done, so… don’t delete. If you don’t hear from me in a week, call 911.” Sure, Randy, whatever!

Considering there isn’t much of the year left, we can probably safely assume that this trailer will appear at The game Awards next week, which isn’t too far away now as it kicks off on December 12 at 7:30 pm ET.
