The Marvel star, Simu Liu, says it is her dream to make a Sleeping Dogs movie happen, followed by a new Sleeping Dogs game.
Earlier this month, actor Donnie Yen said that the cinematographic adaptation of the 2012 Square Enix crime game, which was first announced in 2017, had effectively canceled.
However, earlier this week, Liu, who played the titular role of Shang-Chi in the Marvel movie, Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings, suggested in X that he was still trying to make it come true.
After an X user asked Liu if he was playing Wei in a theoretical film of sleeping dogs, Liu replied that he was “working with the rights holders to take sleeping dogs to the big screen.”
Now Liu has explained his dream in more detail, publishing in X that he wants to watch a Sleeping Dogs movie followed by a new game, but that has been a fight trying to approve the first.
“So few film projects arrive from the launch phase to the green light,” he wrote. “Speaking executives who do not understand the game has been exhausting. The overwhelming love of all for sleeping dogs has really given us life.
“First a movie, then a sequel game for everyone … that has always been the dream.”

In an interview with Polygon earlier this month, Donnie Yen said that Sleeping Dogs movie announced eight years ago was essentially dead.
“I spent a lot of time and did a lot of work with these producers, and even investigated part of my own money to obtain drafts and some of the rights,” Yen said.
“I waited for years. Years. And I really want to do it. I have all these visions in my head, and unfortunately … I don’t know, you know how Hollywood is doing, right? I spent many years in that. It was something unfortunate. “
While it is not yet clear how advanced are Liu’s discussions with the rights holders and if he is progressing more than Yen, Liu has said he wants to involve Yen if he is successful.
“If we really achieved this, my first call will be Donnie,” he told an user in X. “The second call would be Will Yun Lee, Wei’s original voice [in the Sleeping Dogs game]. Third, do Dordash to find the nearest restaurant that serves Bun from Cerk. ”
Liu also ruled out a suggestion that Wei should play if another Dreing Dogs game was ever made, saying that he was “flattered, but the version of the Wei game should always be the legendary Will Yun Lee.”
