The saints hope to hire the coach of Lsu dl bo Davis, the sources say

Indianapolis – New Orleans Saints are expected to hire the LSU BO Davis defensive coach, the sources confirmed to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.

Davis, an All-SEC nose guard for LSU, recently trained for the Tigers during the 2024 season. Davis was the coach of the Texas defensive line from 2021 to 2023 and also trained the defensive line for the Detroit Lions from 2018 to 2020.

While the Saints have not finished Kellen Moore’s coaching staff, Davis is the last of a series of hiring that includes Brandon Staley as a defensive coordinator and Doug Nussmeier as an offensive coordinator. The former offensive guard of the Saints All-Pro, Jahri Evans, is expected to be one of the retreats of Dennis Allen’s staff and was with the technical body of the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

The Saints and LSU have made a series of changes in their defensive line staff in recent years. Ryan Nielsen was co-the co-official coordinator of the Saints and also trained the defensive line in Allen’s first season as chief coach in 2022. Todd Grantham was hired to train the defensive line in 2023, but moved to another role after Allen shot in the middle of the 2024 season. Grantham recently accepted a job in the state of Oklahoma.

LSU defensive line coaches since the 2020 season have included Davis, Bill Johnson, Andre Carter, Jamar Cain, Jimmy Lindsey and John Jancek.

Times-Picayune first reported the news.
