Firecroof Games, the study behind Eerie Puzzle Box Adventure The Room and its equally star sequels, has announced a release date for its paranormal mystery of VR Ghost Town. It will arrive at Quest goal on April 24, with a PCVR/PSVR2 launch that is due at the end of this year.
Ghost Town, if you are not familiar, takes the players to 1983, where they will assume the role of Ghost Hunter Edith Penrose. Edith directs a successful Paranormal Detective agency in London with his floor partner and, as expressed by fire fire, “he is almost updated with his rent and ghosts in the mirror of his bathroom have been less demanding than usual.”
Unfortunately, Edith’s world gets upside down when her brother disappears, and thus begins a search to locate her whereabouts, first taking her to a remote Scottish island in search of a drilling (then through the supernatural belly of London.
All this develops in “large navigable environments” where players will interact with characters totally captured with movement, both alive and dead. “Explore a variety of atmospheric locations with a controller in each hand and a torch to illuminate its path,” Firecroof explains. “Use the skill of your hands to overcome the touch puzzles, throw spells and even summon spirits with problems to move them to the next world.”
Fireproof’s Room Series was an absolute pleasure, intelligently combining tactile head scratches with some deliciously sinister atmospheric atmospheres, and the most recent game of the studio, The Room VR: a Dark Matter, was a particular culminating point. So I’m really excited to see how Ghost Town develops. And with a launch of April 24 in Meta Quest now confirmed (and PSVR2/PCVR to continue), there is not much more to wait.
