A new advance of the monkeythe new movie long legs director Osgood Perkins, you’ll most likely be put off those unfortunate quintessential cymbal-crashing toys.
Back in August, the first trailer for The Monkey didn’t sing its praises too much, just the titular monkey doing a light drumming dot to a shot of showrunner Theo James covered in a pile of blood. Last day, Neon released another trailer, this month a redband one, so it was given more of that classic horror stuff: violence. Much of this is only implied, the calm before the typhoon when it comes to deaths, instilling a strong sense of hysteria around swimming pools, hibachi cooks and, elegantly, drums. Like Longelgs, the vibes look pretty strong once again, although the finishing on that film was a bit weak, so I have some reservations about it anyway.
The authentic synopsis explains: “When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old toy monkey in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths begin to occur around them. The brothers decide to throw away the monkey and move on with their lives. , increasingly separated over the years But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey forever before it takes the lives of everyone close to it. them. If you feel like you’ve heard this somewhere before, it’s because it agrees with Stephen King’s shortened story of the same name.
It also has a strong cast outside of James, as there is also Elijah Plank (The Lord of the Rings), Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk), Laura Mennel (The Man in the Stronghold), Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek) , Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween 2018) and Christian Convery (Candy Enamel). James Wan, co-creator of Insidious and Noticed, could be generating this film, so there’s a great mix of fresh and worn-out horror art to be found here.
The film will also arrive in four months, as it will be released on February 21, 2025.
