Aaron Rodgers became a free agent for the first time in his career at the NFL this low season. Almost two weeks after all 32 teams were allowed to negotiate with veterans without signing, however, the future quartback of the Hall of Fame remains without a home. The New York Jets said goodbye, Minnesota’s Vikings He said no thanks (for now)And only some others seem legitimately interested in signing the old MVP.
They head the “others” are the New York giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers, each of which has signed a veteran backup, Jameis Winston and Mason Rudolph, respectively, but lacks a safe holder of week 1. It was JJ McCarthy. The Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans are in full reconstructed mode, preparing to potentially restore the field marshal at the beginning of the NFL 2025 draft.
That said, does anyone really expect Rodgers to make his decision? before The draft?
At this point, basically everything is established in the field marshal position throughout the league, except for a surprise exchange or a catastrophic injury. Something like 27 of the 32 NFL teams are committed, whether contractual or philosophically, a veteran headline, and the few teams without a proven arm that is put in a higher concert has relatively clear options and/or feedback plans:
- He Titans Possess the general selection number 1 in the draft
- He Brown Possess selection No. 2 and also acquired Kenny Pickett through Trade
- He Giants Possess selection No. 3 and also signed Jameis Winston
- He Steel possess selection No. 21 and also signed Mason Rudolph
- He Vikings I used selection No. 10 last year at JJ McCARTHY
If we effectively ruled out the Browns and the Titans as logical destinations for Rodgers, who would settle for a humble transition team, even if any organization suddenly expressed interest, that leaves three feasible landing places: Minnesota, Pittsburgh and New York. What takes us back to square one.
The Vikings are easily the most attractive from Rodgers’ perspective, given their talent for skill and training skill, but Rodgers needs them more than they need. After letting Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold walk in consecutive years, the Vikings are mature to let their selected perspective grow at work. And even if McCarthy becomes the most atrocious spring ever known by the area of twin cities, either due to the complications of knee surgeries or the lack of experience in the NFL, they would not mark Rodgers, much less commit to a rewriting of the entire 2025 plan, until the last minute.
So why, if you are rodgers, rushes to put the paper pen for giants or steelers? Because you are afraid of Russell Wilson, the other renowned field marshal left without signing, will it beat you? Sorry, but Pittsburgh is not hitting Wilson’s door for a delayed meeting after its slow final of 2024. They let him reach the open market, for crying out loud. And if the giants really wanted Wilson, well, they could have easily locked him up for now. Even if Russ lands tomorrow in New York, the Steelers will be in the same position in which they are now: openly interested in Rodgers such as Victorias rental, but with little significant competition, and therefore without imminent pressure, to ensure their services.
If, on the other hand, Rodgers remains tight and does not give any of the teams a firm answer, waiting even during or after the draft, he will know exactly what he is getting into. If the giants spend the selection No. 3 in a field marshal, or exchange for one, well, it probably does not take place there anyway, unless New York is committed to sitting among the five best of Rodgers and Winston in 2025. Then, again, under the management of the giants, who knows? Meanwhile, Steelers can aim at a Draft Marshal in the Draft, but Rodgers would have a better idea of what type of room would be entering, as a mentor.
Rumors of Russell Wilson: Giants still look at former Steelers QB after adding Jameis Winston

Basically, there is very little that can happen between now and the beginning of the draft, one month of time, which could mainly influence the future of Rodgers’ NFL. If, for example, the San Francisco 49ers lose Brock Purdy for a strange injury in the low season, well, maybe Kyle Shanahan is at stake and we are reassessing the entire situation. Or if, from some unnecessary impulse to get someone who is not Mason Rudolph in the building, the Steelers try to resell their fanatics base in Wilson, then Rodgers might think more about staying in New Jersey, or maybe hang the tacos completely.
However, it is not surprising that all the indications are that Rodgers is not in a hurry here. Why should it be? The elections are thin, and are not so inspiring. Perhaps, to quote the philosophical field marshal, he prefers the “beautiful mystery” of what could occur. Like the Vikings changing their minds. Or a mysterious team that faces emergency help. Or the giants or the steelers or any other NFL bets, against the probabilities, that some magic still has left in that 41 -year -old arm.
