An unused trailer for The Closing of Us has been released, showing one of the most anticipated events in the series’ second season.
Also, since we don’t have a specific future yet, it has been announced that the second season of The Last of Us will begin airing in April. That’s the same age that The Closing of Us Season 2 will make its debut on PC.
The trailer, which you can watch below, runs a little longer than the pointless, but still manages to sneak in the postponement. Along with Ellie and Joel, we also see other unused characters for this season, including Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby and Isabela Merced’s Dina. Please note that below the trailer I will go into more detail about what was shown, so Pay attention to major spoilers for Phase 2 of The Closing of Us below..
A consistent portion of the trailer is made up of snippets of scenes we’ve revealed before: Ellie and Dina being invaded by fire on the subway, Ellie at Jackson’s dance (even though this performance is with Dina), Joel throwing a tear at throughout a supposed treatment consultation, the affectionate rhythm between a tired look between Tommy and María, etc.
Jeffrey Wright, reprising his role as Isaac, and the Seraphites are also glimpsed throughout the season two trailer.
But there are also two moments I should highlight in particular, which are sure to make an emotional impact in the design shed.
The first is the opening of the trailer itself, which begins in a hallway with a wailing siren and ominous red lights. A lone figure enters the scene. He carries a gun with a firefly pendant around his neck. It’s Abby, and this scene clearly focuses on the hospital after Joel’s rampage at the end of the first season.
Those who have played The Closing of Us Chapter 2 know that this means Abby will return under the doctor who was eager to operate on Ellie before Joel killed him: her father. I won’t rule it out, I cried after going through this phase.
The second passage worth citing in particular is the single shot of Ellie, once again bathed in a pink glow, aiming a gun at an invisible target. The scene then becomes dull, but heavy breathing can also be heard.
Based on the events in The Closing of Us Chapter 2, I’m going to say this speed takes over the playground soon Ellie chases WLF member Nora (played on the show by Tati Gabrielle) I’m sick in Seattle. Ellie proceeds to torture and shoot Nora, in one of the most heartbreaking moments of the already heartbreaking game. Ellie’s movements here further traumatize her, and she returns to Dina and Jesse in an atmosphere of grief.
Once I performed The Closing of Us Section 2, this rhythm with Nora made me feel particularly uncomfortable. I wonder if those who haven’t already played the game will feel this same sense of unease when the second season airs.
Closing host, The Closing of Us showrunner Craig Mazin, showed that the second season of The Closing of Us will contain 7 episodes, and some of them will be “pretty big” in space.
“The story we’re telling is a lot bigger than the story of the first season, there’s just a lot more going on, it’s a lot harder to produce but, to be honest, we want each episode to feel like its own blockbuster.” . Mazin declared in June.
The Closing of Us Phase 2 story may not be told in its entirety during the second season, and future seasons are expected to conclude the narrative.
