A former member of the Nintendo of America sales team has predicted a June launch date for Nintendo Switch 2, and said that retailers currently know “nothing” about Nintendo’s launch plans for the console.
‘Sean’ previously worked in the sales and retail department on the American Nintendo arm, and recently appeared with its former colleagues in the kit and the Krista podcast to share information on the company’s sales strategy.
According to former employee, Nintendo “definitely” will share plans to launch Switch 2 before the end of summer during his next Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April.
“They will want the system to leave before the end of summer. I would say that at the beginning of summer, at the end of the school year, so you have children talking about what they are excited, ”he said.
“I think we will see a June launch. I am thinking perhaps in mid -June, or a little later than that. But definitely before the end of summer, that thing is coming out … there are good strategic reasons why that would be part of consideration. “
The former Nintendo employee was also asked about the alleged retail leaks with respect to the date and launch price of Switch 2, and dismissed the notion that retailers have some anticipated knowledge of the plans.
When asked what retailers about Switch 2 know, Sean replied: “Nothing. Nothing. Certainly not the price. It is almost certain that there is no launch date that perhaps a quarter. It always makes me laugh these articles such as: ‘Walmart Canada says that the price will be this’ … Walmart Canada are the last people who will know. “
He continued: “They don’t have that information. There is no way that even the objective in the United States knows anything … when we know the release date, it is probably when retailers will know the release date. Nintendo officially announced Switch 2 last month, with a teaser video showing the console and joy-cons. There was no release date, but Nintendo plans to reveal more information about the console in a direct Nintendo transmission in April.
