Netflix may be reining in its spending a bit now, but it could still be trying to release big blockbusters that rarely hurt the big screen. The closest is The Electrical Around by the Russo brothers, an adaptation of Simon Stålenhag’s 2018 illustrated copy of the same name.
Although the Russos’ The Gray Guy didn’t resonate with critics as well as everyone would have appreciated, it had plenty of views for Netflix, who are still considering keeping the collaboration with the legends at Miracle Studios. If there are no changes, this will be his most Netflix-backed movie before returning to the MCU to take on Avengers: Doomsday and Confidential Wars.
Since the first look images were released, many readers criticized the film for swapping the copy’s more pessimistic and depressive dystopian sound for a more regular and adventurous feel, which also applies to the visuals. This first trailer certainly does a better job of promoting the film, but it’s still a distant call from Stålenhag’s work, I’d say. You will supervise it in:

Straight from Netflix, here’s the credited synopsis that was released alongside the first trailer: “Set after a robot uprising in an alternate version of the ’90s, The Electric State follows an orphaned teenager who ventures through the American West. featuring a cartoon-inspired robot, a smuggler and his partner in search of his little brother.
The reported funds sit at the lopsided $320 million mark, which partly explains how the solid is so built up. It is headed by Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci. Additionally, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo and Alan Tudyk have notable roles.
The biggest question here, aside from comparisons to the copy, is: Does the movie look like a $320 million behemoth? I consider the solutions to be harmful. Miracle writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely also teamed up with the Russos once again for this one, so the result should be a compelling and perfect indicator of what to realistically expect from Avengers: Doomsday…until the undisclosed moment. The sauce for his good luck was Kevin Feige before Section 4 from the beginning. If we look at how Cherry and The Gray Guy emerged despite the different genres they belonged to, maybe that theory is true.
Regardless, I’m sure most Netflix subscribers will give this a chance when it launches on the platform on March 14, 2025. At the very least, it feels like it’s a great, flashy hobby, but here We wait for one. something extra memorable.
