The crows have internally discussed the extension for Lamar Jackson

Palm Beach, Fla.-Los Baltimore Ravens have had internal conversations about a new agreement for the two-time most valuable player of the NFL Lamar Jackson, said coach John Harbaugh on Monday.

Jackson signed a five -year contract and $ 260 million in 2023, but was widely seen as a three -year agreement. The Ravens would probably want a new agreement with Jackson before the start of the next season, when their 2026 salary figure rises to $ 74.65 million.

At the annual league meeting, Harbaugh indicated that he did not know if the team has started conversations with Jackson, who does not have an agent and represents himself in the negotiations.

“You just have to handle the salary dance and Lamar is the main part of that because he is the franchise player,” said Harbaugh. “Sooner or later, that will definitely have to happen.”

Since he signed what was a record contract of the NFL two years ago, Jackson has established himself even more as one of the main players in the League. He won his second MVP of the NFL in 2023 and was almost repeated as MVP last season, ending as a second place of Josh Allen.

When Jackson was asked for a value, Harbaugh said: “The value is the top. When Lamar receives a payment, he will be the best paid player in football, just as it was the last time. I think each contract that probably signs until he decides to hang their tacos, will be that guy.”

Currently, Allen has the title of the best paid player in the NFL after signing an extension of six years and $ 330 million with the Buffalo Bills on March 9. It included a $ 250 million record in guaranteed money.

Jackson’s current agreement includes $ 185 million in guaranteed money and averages $ 52 million per season, which occupies the ninth place in the NFL. Its capitalization number this season is $ 43.65 million, but increases by $ 31 million in 2026.

Baltimore would probably want a new agreement with Jackson for the next 11 months to release the capitalization room before free agency next year. The team took 27 months in challenging negotiations for the team to complete the last Jackson contract.

In the combination of the NFL last month, the general manager of the Ravens, Eric Decosta, referred to Jackson as an “interested part” and “partner”, and said that Jackson could visit Florida this low season.

On Sunday, the president of the Ravens, Sashi Brown, postponed all the questions about a new agreement so that Jackson to Decosta, adding: “We love Lamar. We love to see his evolution as a young man and as a football player and team leader.

Jackson, 28, comes from the best season of his seven -year -old NFL career. He took his game to another level last season, establishing race maximums with 4,172 air yards and 41 TouchDown passes. When taking the Ravens to their first number 1 ranking in the offensive, Jackson became the first player in the history of the League to produce more than 4,000 yards passes and 900 yards by land in the same season.

Jackson’s biggest obstacle has arrived in the postseason. It is 3-5 in the playoffs and has never advanced to a Super Bowl. His 11 ball losses in the postseason are the most in the NFL since he entered the League in 2018.

“That’s what I love Lamar Jackson, he wants to improve all the time,” said Harbaugh. “He is never satisfied. He talks about winning the Super Bowl. And when he wins a Super Bowl, no if, he will not yet be satisfied. He will get another. That is the way he is built.”
