The Coalition, a Canadian video game developer, posts a position for work on what appears to be a new Gears of War game.
For work on an unnamed Gears of War game, The Coalition is currently hiring. Gears Tactics, which is currently playable on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, was the company’s most recent release in 2020. However, Gears 5 was actually their most recent mainline release. Since the release of that game in 2019, a lot of time has passed since the last third-person shooter installment of the Gears of War series.
The Coalition appeared to have abandoned work on two games in February 2023, according to a rumor, in order to focus on what was allegedly Gears 6. However, based solely on comments made by business insider Jeff Grubb, it was implied that Gears of War 6 would unquestionably be the team’s following game. It’s still challenging to determine the veracity of that assertion because most of this information is hearsay. The Matrix Awakens, which was essentially a tech demo, was the last project on which The Coalition worked. New indications, however, strongly suggest that The Coalition is getting ready for a Gears of War entry.
The Coalition is currently seeking a Senior Gameplay Designer specifically for Gears of War, according to a job posting on Microsoft’s careers page. The IP belongs to the Gears franchise, but it’s unclear if it’s Gears 6 or a spin-off like Gears Tactics. According to the job description, applicants should have knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and “Character, Camera, and Controls” (3Cs) systems. The Coalition previously posted a job listing for a Gears of War project in July 2022, so this isn’t the first time it’s done so.
The rumblings are getting louder as there is more rumor that Gears 6 is adding more team members. Hopefully the widespread rumors and job listings are accurate, and gamers will at last receive the eagerly anticipated sequel.
On the other hand, the job posting might be for the Gears of War Remastered Collection given additional rumors that it is also in development. Most fans would ideally prefer a fresh experience to a remake of an earlier one. With the significant advancement in technology, it might be intriguing to see older Gears of War games recreated for contemporary consoles. The franchise’s first installment was created by Epic Games and debuted in 2006. If The Coalition chooses to remake or remaster the first three games, it will undoubtedly be a new perspective.
