The Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Developer Talks About the Prospect of Changing TTK

After discussions between the designers and content producers, a new video discusses potential TTK changes in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

Infinity Ward and Raven Software, the developers of Call of Duty: Warzone 2, and some well-known content producers discussed potential changes to the game’s TTK in a recent video. The discussion took place prior to the release of Season 2. Recent leaks suggest that a new mainline Call of Duty game could be coming out in 2023, despite the fact that Warzone 2 continues to receive distinctly mixed reviews from many players.

Released for PC and consoles in late 2022, Infinity Ward and Raven Software’s free-to-play Battle Royale sequel Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has had a tumultuous first few months of existence due to a myriad of technical issues and unpopular gameplay decisions. Players were outraged by the shooter’s removal of the well-liked Caldera map and the change from 1v1 to 2v2 combat for Gulag fights, both of which were later undone in Season 2. Warzone 2’s quick time-to-kill, or TTK, has been one of the biggest points of contention for many fans of the original game because some players believe it leans too heavily in favor of casual gamers.

Creator of Call of Duty content WhosImmortal provided viewers with a summary of discussions he had with Warzone 2 creators Infinity Ward and Raven Software prior to the release of the game’s second season in a new video posted to YouTube. WhosImmortal stated that the developers were well aware of the complaints from some gamers about the speed with which players can take down opponents during this meeting, and that the fast TTK in Warzone 2 was one of the main topics of discussion. The video claims that Raven Software and Infinity Ward believe the current TTK is in a good place right now, but they also add that it is not set in stone.

The video elaborates that any potential changes would have to be considered against the enjoyment of the overall player base. While some players of the free-to-play shooter may be thrilled to hear that changes to the game’s TTK aren’t out of the question, the video. Although some of the most ardent supporters of a higher TTK are gamers who participate in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 tournaments and other high-level play, the developers point out that this would have a disproportionately negative effect on Warzone 2’s primarily casual player base. So, while TTK changes are on the table, they’re unlikely to be as drastic as some players would prefer.

Complaints about Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s TTK are unlikely to disappear anytime soon, like many other problems surrounding the game. Players can now choose to feed the sea lion on Ashika Island in order to calm their nerves if they are feeling anxious due to the low TTK.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
