The assistant coach of the Mavericks, Darrell Armstrong, accused of aggravated assault with a mortal weapon, by report

The assistant coach of the Dallas Mavericks, Darrell Armstrong, was arrested on Saturday (February 15) and accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, According to WFAA.

Armstrong supposedly hit a woman with a gun and threatened to shoot him during an argument, according to the Dallas Police Department. It is not clear how or if Armstrong knew the woman and her condition is unknown. Armstrong was arrested at the beginning of February 15 and since then has published the bond.

The Mavericks issued a statement to WFAA, in which they announced that Armstrong has been placed in “administrative suspension.”

“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident that involves a member of our staff and is collecting all the relevant information surrounding the incident. We take this matter seriously. The employee has been put in administrative suspension pending Legal procedures. This issue is currently according to appropriate legal authorities.

Armstrong, 56, spent more than a decade in the NBA With five different franchises: Orlando Magic, New Orleans Hornets, Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets. He was appointed most improved player as the sixth player of the year in the same season in 1999 with magic.

After his retirement in 2008, the Mavericks hired Armstrong as a players’ development coach in the mid-2008-09 season. It has been maintained with the organization since then, and is currently Jason Kidd’s assistant.

The Mavericks, which are currently inactive during the NBA break all-stop, will resume their season on February 21 against the New Orleans movie.
