Steelers exploring all the options to complete the room QB

Palm Beach, Florida. The Pittsburgh Steelers do not leave the Quarterback carousel in the short term. In the midst of a public courtship of the field marshal Aaron Rodgers, coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday that the team is still evaluating their options to add to the field Marshal.

“We are still evaluating the acquisition of a guy in the position, whether the free agency and/or the draft, so we are doing our diligence due communicating with some free agents. It is also prepared for the Draft,” Tomlin said of the annual meetings of the NFL League in his first public comments from a press conference of the season in January.

“We are optimistic about the room we are building. Obviously, we are excited to have Mason Rudolph back.

“But we will certainly continue to explore all our options in terms of rounding that room.”

Tomlin was shy in the details of the search for the 41 -year -old rodgers steelers, who visited the team’s facilities for almost six hours on March 21.

“It has been reported that one day with us spent, and it was a very good day,” Tomlin said. “Specifically, he and I obviously know each other for some time, so it was really good to spend time together, man and get to know ourselves more intimately, but it is a free agency. It is a process. I have nothing more important than adding more than that.”

Tomlin said there was no internal deadline for steelers to solve the situation with Rodgers.

“Not that I know,” he said. “I do not know if we have addressed it from a deadline perspective. Certainly, as I mentioned, you would like to have established circumstances, but the deadlines often do not take it to a critical point.”

The Steelers coach added that he did not ask Rodgers about his timeline during his visit in person.

“I really wanted to spend more of our time knowing him better and the things he values as a player and man and what he could be looking for with his next stop,” he said.

Tomlin also said that “I had not thought much” to solve the situation of the Rodgers before the Draft and that the non -resolved Marshal position has not hinder the free agency’s plans of the team. The Steelers negotiated by the open receiver DK Metcalf on the eve of the negotiation period and signed the corner of the free agent Darius Slay and the Kenneth Gainwell corridor, among others.

Although Steelers are not establishing an imminent deadline in Rodgers’ decision, Tomlin acknowledged that entering the training camp with an incomplete seafood room could negatively affect the development of the equipment.

“In spring it is about teaching and learning and becoming familiar with the players and making sure that they are becoming familiar with some of the things we value,” he said. “It is not a time of evaluation of the year for us. It is certainly not a time of the year in which we are focused on preparing for the action of the game. Certainly, the training camp would be a demarcation line in terms of that discussion, spring is about teaching and learning.”

Retaining the importance of having a complete field marshal position in spring is a kind of deviation from Tomlin’s words a year ago, when he said it was important to place Russell Wilson in the “pole position” for initial work on Justin Fields due to his experience and veteran leadership.

“During this time where we are not working formally, man, I think it’s beneficial,” Tomlin said at the meetings of the March 2024 NFL League. “Simply creates a synergy that I think is good for this time of year.”

While the field Marshal’s position is a work in Progreso, Tomlin acknowledged that Rudolph’s experience with the team, and his vision as a starting potential, led the Steelers to sign him with a two -year contract.

“I think that’s why we react, man,” said Tomlin, asked if it was thought that Rudolph could be “the guy.” “We like Mason Rudolph, but that’s not secret.”
