Steam adds warning for early access titles ‘abandoned’

Steam now warns players if an early access title has not been updated in several months.

As seen by SteamdB, an example warning says “Note: the last update by developers was more than 13 months ago. The information and schedule described by developers can no longer be updated.”

It seems that this warning will appear in games that have not received an update in more than a year. Several early access titles, such as Hades 2, do not wear this warning. Similarly, the much older early access titles seem to be exempt from this warning.

While Steam offers one of the most solid reimbursement systems of any of the great digital market places of the Games, there is currently no refund system for a game that is abandoned halfway through development.

Steam will allow refunds without questions of any game on the platform, provided that the player has not played the game for more than two hours. Complete refunds can be offered in other exceptional circumstances, such as high profile performance problems.

Since the beginning of the program, Steam has warned players: “Games in early access are not complete and may or may not change. If you are not excited to play this game in your current state, then you must wait to see if the game progresses even more in development. “
