Sources: The Eagles will launch 6 times Pro Bowl CB Darius Slay

Philadelphia-The champion of the Super Bowl, Eagles, will launch the six times corner of Pro Bowl, Darius Slay, the sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN on Monday.

The launch of Slay will be designated as a transaction after June, saving the Eagles $ 4.3 million against the salary limit.

Eagles currently have a little more than $ 20 million in capitalization space. Several key players are ready to get to the free agency next week, including the supporter Zack Baun, the defensive liners Josh Sweat and Milton Williams and Guard Mekhi Becton.

With a series of star players locked in lucrative long -term agreements, General Manager Howie Roseman spoke last month about the need to trust the players of their rookie contracts in some areas.

“As the limit becomes more tight, as all our expensive players begin to be expensive, you have to go with young players,” Roseman said.

The Eagles were well placed for the transition in the corner by selecting Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper leave with their first two selections last April. Both had outstanding rookie campaigns for a unit that ended No. 1 in the general defense and against the pass in 2024.

A question ahead for the defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is whether to move outside or keep him in the slot, where he made a series of great plays last season, highlighted by his selection against six against Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl Lix.

Slay, 34, played the last five seasons in Philadelphia and gathered one of the best races in the corner in the history of Eagles. He served as a captain several times and is attributed to helping the young defensive, including Mitchell. Last season, it appeared in 14 games and had 13 defendant passes, a forced loose ball and a loose ball recovery and 49 tacle.

He began his career with the Detroit Lions, who selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft.

He has been appointed for the Pro Bowl six times, three with the lions and three during his time in Philadelphia. It was a first team with the lions in 2017 when it led the NFL with eight interceptions and 26 defended passes.

It has 28 interceptions in 12 seasons.
