Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is reportedly in talks to play Lara Croft in Prime Video’s upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series.
Deadline recently reported that Turner, who played Sansa Stark in the HBO series, was among the actors who auditioned for the role.
Now her sources claim that she is the current favorite to play Lara Croft, and that negotiations are currently underway.
If successful, Turner, who also played Jean Gray in X-Men: Apocalypse and recently starred in ITV drama Joan, would be the third actor to take on the role of Lara in live-action, following Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.
In May it was announced that Amazon’s Prime Video had placed a series order for a live-action adaptation of Tomb Raider.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the British actress, screenwriter and producer who won Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for her work on Fleabag, serves as the show’s writer and executive producer.
“If I could tell my teenage self that this was happening, I think he would explode,” Waller-Bridge said at the time.
“Tomb Raider has been a big part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as it does to many, and I can’t wait to embark on this adventure. Bats and everything.”
