Sonia Bompastor hopes Chelsea can make winning look easy

Sonia Bompastor wants Chelsea to make winning “easy” by continuing their successful run in Europe.

Chelsea have won 11 consecutive games since the Frenchwoman replaced Emma Hayes in the summer and sit at the top of the Women’s Super League (WSL) table.

Their 3-0 victory over Celtic in the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday meant they reached the quarter-finals with two group games remaining.

“As a club it’s always important to make sure that after four games you have a chance to qualify,” Bopastor said.

“That’s perfect, although tonight you saw that not everything was perfect, but in terms of results we are in a good place.

“It’s good because once again it brings a lot of confidence. For us it’s important to continue our streak. There are a lot of positives.”

“It’s important to work hard to make things easy, even if they aren’t.”

Bopastor made six changes to the starting XI since their crucial WSL win over Manchester City last weekend and was able to rest key players.

He also debuted 17-year-old Lola Brown, who signed her first professional contract with the club this week.

“I’m very happy. I told my players that it was a good opportunity to qualify for the quarterfinals and we did it,” Bompastor added.

“We are still at the top of the [European] table, something we also wanted to make sure we achieved. It’s great news.

“We were able to rotate the squad, and we were also able to rest some players thinking about the game against Manchester United. [on Sunday]”.
