Whatever happens in what is probably the last day of the series, it is clear that Australian spinners have been spectacular in Sri Lanka.
“He is playing his best ball again and again, and challenging the defense of the guy, and that is all we can ask. He is playing his role with his best ability, and I am extremely proud of him. This is his fifth trial game Is that so?
Lyon, one of Australia’s best spinners, has taken 13 Wickts and on Saturday he became the third Bowling player in Australia, after Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, to overcome 550 WICKETS. But others have also contributed. Todd Murphy, Travis Head and Beau Webster, have taken a wickt each in Sri Lanka.
“Well, we are proud to improve our skills, each and every one of us,” Lyon said. “For someone like Travis Head too, we all know he is an X factor player with the bat, keep putting his finger on the ice and continuing to make those advances is special.
“But everyone works hard in their game, and they want to play their role. They want to have an impact for the Australian cricket team, and that is something they should be proud.”
It has been a resounding success in Sri Lanka for Australia’s spinners, and Lyon suggested that simplicity was in the heart of what they tried to do in these releases.
“Honestly, we have been talking about sticking to the bowling bowling process, and we hope that it leads to a couple of opportunities here and there.”
