Sri Lanka won five world test championship tests in 2024, which put them in dispute to make the final of the World Testing Championship in 2025, as recently as December. Three of those victories left home, which is what made it especially impressive.
Kandambe pointed out the cases in 2024, when it had been Kamindu’s races that rescued Sri Lanka.

His production sauce has meant that Sri Lanka has frequently faced difficult situations of coincidence. In the current game, its 229 for 9 could be a decent total, given the extremely friendly nature with the tone. But Kandambe wants more of his hitters to have shot.
“Point to a total above 350 would have been ideal, but we are already nine bass,” Kandamboy said. “But Kusal Mendis is there, and has all the shots. I hope you get some more races and leads us to 275 ideally.”
