He raked the best order of the local team in his match Sheffield Shield on Friday, taking the first six Wickts of Tasmania’s first tickets in a devastating spell of nine after lunch, all the wickts that come in the space of 39 balls.
Responding to Queensland’s first entries of 425 by 9 declared, Tasmania collapsed after lunch of 86 without losses and were fired by 161 in Bellerive Oval. Tasmania continued and still had 194 races with two remaining days.
While Queensland and Tasmania began this penultimate round as the two lower teams, a great victory would keep one of them in hunt to reach the final against SA.
After the Usman Khawaja century on Thursday, Neser’s performance confirmed that Queensland has the game by throat.
He pressed 6 by 37 of 15 overs. It is his third Shield game after an injury in the hamstrings in November while playing for Australia, his hopes of a test return this summer.
The 34 -year -old has played only two tests, more recently against Western Indies at the end of 2022. Neser has had to wait for his time, caught in Australia’s rhythm tail behind Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland.
Neser launched Weatherald for a 55 upper score and took a wickt in each of his next three overs. When he caught Radhakrishnan LBW for 39 and played Beau Webster, Tasmania was 122 for 6 and Queensland was in the box seat.
Mark Steketee caused Radhakrishnan to catch the 24th late on day, with Weatherald undefeated in 39.
Gabe Bell and Webster took three wickts each in Queensland’s first entries.
