The New Orleans Saints meet with the open receiver Brandin Cooks eight years after they changed it to the New England patriots.
The team hinted at the movement on social networks by publishing a gif of chefs in a Saints uniform making its signing of the celebration of Touchdown “Archer”, before announcing the two -year agreement shortly after.
A source told Adam Schefter of ESPN that the agreement is worth $ 13 million.
Cooks, the first round of the Saints in 2014, passed the first three seasons of his career in New Orleans. Cooks expressed his frustration about his role in the offensive towards the end of his last season after the Michael Thomas National Team in the 2016 Draft.
“The closed mouths do not feed,” Cooks said at that time.
He finished that season with 78 trapped for 1,173 yards and 8 touchdowns. Cooks had 20 touchdowns in its three seasons in New Orleans.
Cooks was changed to the Patriots in 2017 in exchange for a first round of 2017, which was used to select the right Tackle All-Pro Ryan Ramczyk. The Patriots also sent the Saints a third round selection and received a fourth round selection in return.
Cooks was more recently with the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent the last two seasons. His 2024 season was interrupted by a knee infection that required cleaning, which forced him to lose seven games.
He caught 26 passes for 259 yards and three scores, but played only four games with Dak Prescott before the field marshal season ended with an avulsion of his right ischiotibial.
Cooks arrived at the cowboys in 2023 after an exchange of the Houston Texans. He caught 54 passes for 657 yards and eight trapped from Touchdown, an out of his career.
For his career with five teams, he has 710 trapped for 9,532 yards and 60 touchdowns. It is only the second player in the NFL history to register four seasons of 1,000 yards with four teams, joining Brandon Marshall.
Cooks, 31, has appeared in Super Bowls with the Patriots and Los Angeles Rams. His experience and success made him one of the veteran leaders in the cowboys, with receptors such as Ceedee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert leaning on him in parts of his success.
