Saints hires the Oguilas Oc Kellen Moore as chief coach

The Saints made the official movement two days after Moore and the Eagles won the Super Bowl Lix in New Orleans.

“At the beginning of the interview process, it was important to find a chief coach who was adequate for the organization of the New Orleans Saints,” said the owner of the Gayle Benson team in a statement. “Through the search process, it was clear that Kellen is the right person to help us rest leading our team last season.

The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, and Field Marshal Jalen Hurts was appointed MVP of the Super Bowl. Immediately after the victory of the Super Bowl, the Eagles coach, Nick Sirianni, begged Moore to return to the team for another season.

Moore, 36, decided to move forward with his search to become a chief coach after a season in Philadelphia. The Eagles averaged 27.2 points in the regular season (seventh in the NFL) and 36.3 points in the postseason (first in the NFL).

The former Los Angeles Chargers chief coach, Brandon Staley, who spent last season as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers, is a leading candidate to become the defensive coordinator of Moore in New Orleans, sources told ESPN. Moore was the offensive coordinator of the Chargers under Staley in 2023.

Fixing the defense of the Saints will be an important priority for Moore and who hires as a defensive coordinator. The Saints allowed the third more yards for game last season (379.9).

The Saints were willing to wait for Moore after flying to Philadelphia to interview him after the NFC championship game two weeks ago.

He was one of the four candidates who interviewed the Saints in person, who also conducted multiple interviews with the offensive coordinator of the New York Giants, Mike Kafka, the defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins, Anthony Weaver and Rizzi, the special team coordinator of the Saints that was promoted for the interim coach after after Dennis Allen was fired on November 4.

Moore is the first chief coach outside the building since Sean Payton moved away after the 2021 season. The Saints promoted Allen, then the defensive coordinator, to the open position after a quick search for training that involved a little Group of candidates, each of which was interviewed once.

Moore is also a deviation from Allen, who was 50 years old and had a second coach when he was hired. Moore will be one of the youngest boss coaches in the league and comes from the offensive side of the ball, similar to Payton when he was hired in 2006. Payton had three experiences of experience as an offensive coordinator with the giants about his hiring.

Moore played Campo Mariscal for Boise State from 2007 to 2011 and in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and the Cowboys.

Moore began his career as a NFL coach after his retirement to play after the 2017 season. He was the Cowboys field marshal coach in 2017 and the offensive coordinator in Dallas from 2019 to 2022. He was offensive coordinator of the Chargers In 2023 before taking the same position with the Eagles this season.

Their crimes occupy the fifth place (compared to all other NFL teams since 2019) at points per game (26.4) and yards per game (376.5), while their quarterbacks have registered a total QBR of 62.1, also fifth in The NFL since 2019, according to ESPN Research.
